Default LS1 cam install input

Hey guys, Just started my LS1 rebuild. My machinist told me to install the cam first to check for any problems with the cam bearings. I installed the cam and it was a tight fit. I used tons of assembley lube. rather be safe then sorry. lol. But anyway. The cam went in with a little encouragement and its still tight. It turns but its kind of difficult to turn. So i took the cam back out and checked all the bearing surfaces and cam surfaces and all look great. lubed it back up and put it back in. again a litle tight but not bad. But it's still kind of hard to turn i figured it would be very easy is this normal for the cam to be tight?

So do you think the assembly lube is the culprit? I'm not too worried. I used plenty of lube and I think it should work itself in nicely. Thanks!

The only way to be absolutely certain is to mic each of the bearings, and each of the cam bearing surfaces, and calculate the clearance accurately.
