Default Blown engine update/New Build w/pics

For those of you who read my last thread https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...ken-crank.html

Once i got the heads off and realized the entire bottom end was toast i started rounding up parts and a new block and crank. Just got around to taking the bottom end down and seeing the extent of the damage. Here is what i found

It seems that a bearing spun then basically welded the rod to crank, the rods then broke in half and one shot out the side. There is deep scarring on the crank and so much debris that even the pistons and rods next to the cylinders that broke have marks all over them.

The new build is in progress now and should over all be a much nicer combination. Of course i went ahead and had the Dart Pro 1's ported with a nice 5 angle valve job which picked the flow up substantially. Just waiting on a few pieces to finish her up now, hopefully it will be going back in the car in a couple weeks.

The new setup will consist of Eagle H beams, JE 10.8:1 pistons, ported dart pro 1's, EPS cam .600 lift 230/234, Ati damper, ARP hardware etc. and will be tuned by Geoff at EPS. Here are a few pics

Before-

After (in the process of being ported)

Looks like its going to be a gnarley street beast. Who is porting the heads? You going to run a fast intake?

Very nice, however... is it me or is there a giant gap now where the valve stem goes?

Oh yes, sorry i forgot to mention it also has a fast 92/92 setup on it. The heads were flowing 310(turbulent though) intake and 225 exhaust, after porting they now flow 328 intake and 267 exhaust. A buddy of mine in the Baton Rouge area is doing the head work, he does great work and has great prices too. If any of yall ever need any work done just hit me up and i can put you in contact with him.

No, that was just some carbon build up on the surface, that was taken before they were finished.

How much power are you aiming for? And is it a 6 speed or auto?

Its a stalled auto, 3200 vig stall. It made 423whp before with 10.0:1 compression, its going to be around 10.9:1 now and heads flow better. Ill be happy with anything more than i had as long as it stays together lol. From what ive seen on other setups it should be around 440+ though.

Where did you pick up the pistons? 440hp should be easy with that setup!

Not to start an argument with anyone, but I'm curious whether you resized the stock rods for those ARP bolts?

Honestly i dont know, i bought the car as it was. The previous owner had all the mods/build done by Futral Motorsports so i would imagine they did but i do not know for sure. It was built in 09 and had close to 40k miles on it.

New motor is all together now and should be going in tomorrow. We did some porting to the fast intake and a few other little things. Here are a couple pics i took during the build.

I heard the other night the motor let go. Mike is a friend of mine and we had some good times running each other while he still had it. Congrats on your new build.
