Default Need help choosing heads/cam...

OK, so first off the car is an 01 SS that has tsp 1-7/8" LT, ory, ran tech CB, yank ss4000, 3.73s.

Looking to stay with the ls6 intake for a while. Goal is to run high tens n/a and be able to drive daily. Car will get tuned by Frost on the dyno after install.

Have been looking to run either cncd 5.3s or 243s, don't have the coin for afrs, tfs, etc. Not really sure about the cam. Looking for others thought and opinions on whose heads to go with and what cam should help to achieve the goal above.

I went 11.20 n/a in 2001 with a 98 SS with hand ported stockers, mti b1 cam, yank tp4400, ls6 intake, whisper mid length headers, ory, mufflex CB. Car weighed 3450# wit me in it and had a 1.50 60'.

I figured since, I have access to better heads/cam setups and tuning options I didn't have then, that I should be able to run in the 10s with a similar weight and suspension setup I had before with a little more power.

Thanks in advance.

I think you will be able to get into the 10's with what you're looking to add parts wise.

A good cam and a set of PRC, TEA, AI or comparable ported 243's and an off the shelf cam or a custom ground one will do the job just fine.

I and other vendors here can point you in the right direction for a cam and the heads.

Thanks for the response. Must mean something if you are the only one that chimed in.

just did the stage 2.5, 5.3L heads from TSP milled to 60cc and .040 gaskets and a 228R 114LSA +2 on my C5. netted 440/380 after tuning with 11.5:1 compression.

May seem like a dumb question, but can you run 93 octane with 11.5 comp? And what rpm did you make peak power?

Something like a G5x3 would work well for you
