I'll play devil's advocate...

Ported with 2.02 valves the 5.3 heads can flow more than your engine will need. Also, 5.3 heads can be had for about 1/4 the price of the ls6 heads.

Stock for stock the ls6 heads are better by far, but if your planning on porting and adding larger valves, I would start with the 5.3's just because of the cost factor.

I will play devil's advocate the other way.

If someone did mild port work but then thought bigger valves was important are they really competent enough to be doing this work?

I would contact tsp. They sell their cnc 5.3 heads just under 1300 bucks. This includes 2.02 valves, .650 springs locks and retainers. You may be able to supply your own cores and come in at or under 1k.

Should've had 241 heads stock. Is go with 243s which are the ls6 heads or 799s which pretty much the same and came on ls2s. 5.3s will flow just as good with some port work. This is massie by the way haha

Check out AI's 5.3 heads, even more budget than 243's and have just as much potential, especially if you up the compression ratio. Dont sleep on them!
