Default long crank 6.0

I have an early 6.0 that I am going to put in my Mustang. Come to find out that since it is an early one, i have a spacer built in.... yay.... not really.

I have access to a 4L80e, but it is an older unit that I dont really want to run if I dont have too. I dont want to kill my trans tunnel to make it fit.

Since I have the spacer (well it is part of the crank actually) can I use a 4L60e made for older SBC's or 4.3's with the removeable bell and just redrill my TC holes to line up? I will not be using a LS 4L60e.

Thanks in advance.

If anyone wants a 4L80e from a 96 G20 cargovan.... well... I have one.

From memory, you ahould be able to use any TH350, 400, or 700/4L60E for an SBC. The 4L80 is a good unit, although they have some input shaft problems even with stock 6.0's. I would repost over in the trans section.

Also, where are you located?

You can make it work by running a flat flex plate from a 2000 model 2500 HD and a converter for an LT1, other wise it will need a custom made converter. I did this on mine, works perfect. If you ever blow it and get another engine with a s short crank just use a spacer and the same flat flex plate.

If you run the flat flexplate from the early HD, it should take all the early normal converters made for the turbo 400 or 350.
