Angry EDIT: FINALY GOT IT! (stripped my fuc****crank threads all the way) installing pulley

So I started the thread how to know if the pulley is all the way seated because it was so hard to get the pulley on. Turns out I stripped out the first few threads of the crank when first starting pulling it on and I kept going. Took the bolt out and the threads on the bolt were GONE. So I looked inside the crankshaft and every last single thread is stripped and almost no threads left. Don't ask me how I'm so fuc**** dumb because I don't know. ANYWAYS now what am I going to do now? I have no idea how I am going to completely rethread the crank??? Never been soooo pissed. Someone please let me know what I have to do as soon as possible.

use a search.... lots of options

I suggest either a Helicoil kit or drill and tap for a different bolt

Do you think helicol will be possible? By looking at it I think these threads might be unfixable

I'd just step up to a bigger bolt.

You sure the crank is stripped and it's not just the threads from the bolt stuck in the grooves of the crank?

What tool were you using??? I have only installed the LS damper a couple of times and it was not hard at all, very Smooth. I used the HAWK tool.
The metal shavings are somewhere...Are you positive that threads cant be chased?

I just used the longer bolt to pull it on a little ways and than used the stock botl. Cleary I did not pull it on far enuf with the longer bolt before putting the stock bolt in . The metal shavings were laying in the crank. I blew them out wtih my air hose and looked inside. Threads are BAD and in spots are gone. Bolt is so bad the threads aren't even on the end of the bolt for like half an inch. I'm pretty sure they can't be chased, but I am not positve. It looks like the threads are not even there in spots so i'm I pretty sure that they can't be chased. I mean I fought this thing the whole way on and just thought my new pulley was really tight. I'm an f"n idiot

+1

Get some machining oil, mark a bit for the depth of the crank hole, drill it out, and re-tap for a bigger bolt.

Stripped threads happen - you fix it and move on

**** happens man, you'll work it out. I don't get it though, couldn't you just rent the installer/puller from autozone?

Thanks guys. I was soooo pissed when i found out. I shoiuld have known it shouldn't have been NEARLY that hard to pull it on. If I do the helicoil will I be able to use the same size bolt? Also can I get the helicoil kit locally at like autozone or oreilys or hardware store maybe?

yes, you will be able to use the same size bolt.

Get the helicoil for a 16x2.0 (mm) and a new crank bolt.
