Default LQ4 cam advice, need some help

Here is what I have:

Stock bore LQ4 on fresh rebuild.
Self Ported 862 heads with 2" intake valves (knife edged the valve guides, opened up behind the valve, and opened up the exhaist port alot, just cleaned up the intake ports a little)
LS1 Intake
Stock Injectors
Ported truck throttle body
85mm Truck MAF
1 3/4" Long tube headers with full 3" exhaust
4L60e from a 4.3 Blazer (I have a 2000 engine, so i have the extended crank flange)
Stock Converter from Blazer
3.73 gears with a 26" tire

Car is my 93 mustang, this is a street car, will see very little drag racing, and will be heavy, in the neighborhood of 3500lbs with me in it.

I need a cam that will give me decent street manners, but still make decent power. I plan on a converter at some point. But it isn't in the cards right now. Any advice would be greatly apperciated!

I would recommend you look at our 224R cam on a 114 LSA. It will provide plenty of low end and mid range for a setup like that. It does not require an aftermarket converter to work correctly either. Anything larger or with more overlap and I would be worried the vehicle would push through the brakes at an idle.

John, In your opinion, what do you think the power peak will be for that cam in this application. I dont plan to spin the thing past 6200. Was going to have my WOT upshift commanded at 5900, so the shift will complete by my self imposed redline.

Also, in your expirence, and if my heads flow marginally better then stock, what numbers do you think I will be seeing at the wheel? And I understand this is a best guess type of thing.

I would expect the combo to peak power right around 6200RPM with that cam in there. My guess on horse power would probably be anywhere between 380-400 at the tire. It might do better but I always like to shoot low.

John, thanks very much for your advice. When I am financially ready to go to the next step, I will be giving you guys a call. 400 to the wheel would be fantastic. The little 302 I had in there only made about 280ish. And it was a ball.....
