Default LM7 Suggestions

Sup guys im nee to the forum. Im a avid S10 forum member though. I acquired a 5.3 from an 05 avalanche with 90,000 mile complete with harness and PCM for $400. So far i have the entire block broken down heads off and everything. I dont plan on tampering with the lower end at all. This motor will be getting swapped into my 2000 s10 which currently has a 2.2. Wat im looking to upgrade to is just maybe an LS6 intake. Hardened pushrods. LS7 lifters. Low profile holley oil pan kit, headers, PAC1218 beehive valve springstrickflOW double roller timing chain set. And a nice cam that has a good power output with some lope but nothing major lol! Also i plan on picking up q 4l60e trans for my swap. Wat years of 4l60e would be a direct swap in and compatible with my harness
Heres a couple pics of the progress ive been making. YES the motor did dent my bed lol i fixed that though lmao

That's a pretty cool project. I would recommend a trans out of an fbody. I'm running a tqr v2 in my lm7 swapped Camaro. I did rebuild the bottom end tho. Which is really not that hard. Just gotta do your research and get some tools for the job. Harbor freight is gonna be your friend there. One thing you really should think about is some kind of torque distributing setup under that *** end because stock s10 leafs and leaf brackets and u bolts are not going to hold up to the power that's trying to yank that rear end forward. Suspension is just as important as building the power train in my opinion. And the best thing I did for Mine was the umi torque arm relocation to the tunnel mount. Since I do a lot of drifting (on closed courses and safe environments my stock trans mounted torque arm broke the tail shaft housing off the back of my 4l60e. Yeah that sucked. IMO the 5.3s are great motors but mine doesn't feel like it even makes any power until 6k. So your gonna need at least a 4k stall converter to make it shine. Love the project tho. I will look in the future for some updates. I would like to
Do the same thing as a side project sometime. Only in a 4x4 blazer ready for some playing in the mud. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Great project! I'd even look at ditching the leaf springs for a ladder bar setup, or even better a 4 link. Depending on what exactly you want the truck to do primarily is look at a tight lsa 224 or 228 cam and keep your lift just under .600" so your valve springs will last longer.

Any 99-2006 Gen III V8 truck 2wd 4l60/65e will work. The newer the better.

lol i forgot i posted this thread. well anyway, id like to thank you guys for all the help. ive basically been breathing LSX for the last 7 months and learned a sh1tload of crap. im awaiting my engine mounts and Speed inc High flow billet fuel rails and itll be ready to drop in the truck this may. here's a pic of how the motor looks now. im pretty much going for a hotrod setup, ditching AC, long tubes ect. using an 80e behind it also, with a 3600 circle D stall. 228R Comp Cam
