Spun bearing....damaged crank....how bad is too bad?

Default Spun bearing....damaged crank....how bad is too bad?

Can anyone tell from this chitty pic is the damage to my crank is too much to be salvaged?

Take it to your machinist and see if he can turn it. The gouges that your finger nail catches on can be turned/cut but that hole looks way to deep to me. I know you can turn the rod journals down .030" so it all depends on how deep that hole is. You will need to heat treat crank after turning that much

I wouldn't even waste the money on machining, you can get a new crankshaft from rockauto for 180 bucks.

But made by who? I'm building a motor for a F1a. lol May look at a K1 3.9 crank if this ones fugg'd

I honestly have no clue, haha. I'm sure it'd suffice for stock, but that's about it.

I just looked at it. It's not new its reman'd, so its probably a GM crank. Advance sells the same thing fr $150 tho.

Yea even the rods look mangled to...buy a used one on classifieds for CHEAP!

if your building a motor for a f1a you might as well just buy a rotating assembly and machine the block and do it right from the beginning. a good rotating assembly doesnt cost much and you will be much better off.
