pre installation tips (cam/heads)
im getting ready to tear into the 98 t/a this weekend and just looking for some tips or advice. im going to be lifting the body off of the subframe/engine via cherry picker. im installing cam, heads, stall and all of the supporting goodies to go along. i have new lifters, and pushrods. the heads, cam, and stall are all lightly used.
my question it, do i have to do anything to prepare the parts for install? soak in oil or something? any tip for lifting the front of the car off of the subframe/engine? just looking for any advice i can get to make this install as smooth as possible!!

I just got done swapping heads/cam and intake. I didnt drop the engine or anything just did the swap. Only thing I can suggest is get some ziplock baggys for you hardware and mark the bags with whatever the hardware was from. Get a couple cans of brake cleaner to clean the block where the heads mount. And take your time. I did all my installation myself and it was my first time doing any major maintenance on my car and it only took me 5 days working on it 8 hours a day.

Start using wd40 on bellhousing bolts, bc when one of those breaks it sucks dick, same for starter mount...if you got the extra cash switch the stock 1long bolt, 1 short bolt starter for the newer design of 2 long bolts, it's not neccesary it's just an upgrade you can do while you are there....
Another trick I use is a shop vac to suck coolant out of head bolt holes and cylinders...
