Default dropped 3 lifters and a pushrod during f body cam swap

Doing a cam swap in a buddies car, they got past the wooden dowel rods, but since the heads are off. we're gonna go ahead and do the head swap as well.. hes going with 243's and a tsp v2. Will it be a PITA to get the lifters out of the pan while its in the car?? We have the car on a lift right now and i was wondering if that crossmember/skid plate under the pan needs to come off or not.. (or if it can even be done without removing it)

Sounds like its time to either lift the motor up a few inches, or drop the front suspension and drop the pan.

You could try to take off the oil pump and get you a stick magnet and try and fish them out that way.

If you drop the pan, plan on replacing the pan gasket too. Since you are going that far, throw a new pump in there too.

Man that sucks to hear but that k member is going to have to drop down some to get the oil pan off. You could try fishing them with a magnet but 3 lifters and a pushrod sounds like a lot of frustration to get them all out with a magnet.

Sure makes you wish you had pulled the heads before the cam,, doesn't it!

No need to start slinging a magnet around everywhere in your engine it will magnetize everything it touches to an extent and can potentially cling to metal particles floating around in your oil. Just my 2 cents worth. Drop the K member

how is this a bad thing?

id try fishing em out with a magnet...ive had to drop the k, and raise the engine on my 99 trans am to replace a piston, and WAS NOT FUN to get the oil pan off on a garage floor. do everyhting you can first to try gettin them lifter out. just try unbolting the oilpan and let it fall on the k first.

I took the oil pump off for a tsp pump and when i had to do the o ring and pickup tube bolt there was quite some room. But if you have to take the motor mounts loose and jack up on engine till its high enough to do what you need.

well, trying to get them out was a big fail, we're just gonna pull the motor out. I figure it will be a breeze to put back together when it's out. we also deleted the AC since the compressor is out.

I'll keep you guys posted...

In the meantime, i ordered two more parts for my 370 build yesterday..
i spoke to tick on the phone and they helped me out with the cam selection, I ordered a Street Heat Stage 2 cam, i hope it performs badass. I also picked up an SS3600 stall from yank. Buying a cooler and Lines for it when it ships in. can Fbody's fit 40k coolers like the LS truck guys?
