862 heads
Came across these head on CL and would like to know how they compare to 243 heads.
862 specs
862 "truck" casting heads that have the Stage 2+ port job(fully ported)
Manley 2.02" intake valves, 1.57" exhaust valves
59 cc combustion chambers
Comp Cam Dual valve springs good to .650 lift (valve springs retainers and locks )
Looks to me like they are worth it but don't know what will be involved to get it to work on my car; Do i need to fly cut the piston, any other modification needed? As far as engine i have just bolt ons.

We have done a lot of work with ported 5.3l and they are definitely a good head. A ported version of 862s with the larger valves are a definite improvement over a stock 243 head, but if the 243 head is ported I would probably want to use that. If its not too expensive I would say grab them up. Piston to valve clearance would need to be measured depending on what cam you have.

According to the info i found these were ported buy GTP (Gallant Tech Performance) but the shop owner changed direction and is no longer porting LS heads.
Please help me out guys i don't want to jump the gun and later realize i made a mistake.

Yes they are ported. I am porting a set of 862's right now. This is a fantastic job done to these heads. Looks like they were sand blasted after porting to get rid of the tool marks. Buy them.

Are you kidding me dude? Even a peramiter bolt head ported like that would be worth 350. Good lord. I can't believe you needed to ask. Lol. Those valves, springs and retainers are worth 350 alone. That head work looks amazing. I would scoop those ******* up in a heartbeat.
