Just make sure you use a 6 point socket so you don't round off the head on the bolt and pull hard. GM uses locktite under the head of the bolt and they can be a bitch to break loose.

2xLS1, do you think I could put some heat{torch}on the base of studs then let them cool down, then unscrew them??Maybe the heat would break lose the Loc-tite?

I use a 6 point 3/8 drive socket and use a 12" long breaker bar to break the ignitial turn. They are locked real good from the factory.

See if you can get some more leverage on it, it works wonders. Be sure to use a 6 point socket. Since the head is off, maybe place it between two heavy objects that won't allow it to move so you won't have to hold it in place.

Should you loctite the bolts when re-installing them?

Use a breaker bar. they will come out.

I always use a small dab of blue locktite at the very first few threads of the bolt. Its not really nessacary for stock heads but I would recommend it. Its more needed on ported heads since there is alot of material taken out of the ports that exposes some of the bolt.

It's the locktite under the face of the builtin flat washer on the rocker bolts. You had to crack that locktite to free up the bolt. A good stiff pop on the breaker bar will fracture the locktite and then you can just about unscrew the bolts by hand. Just be sure to hold the socket and breaker bar very straight and square to the head when you break the bolt loose. If your going to reuse those bolts you can put a little locktite under the flat washer in the same location as GM does after you clean them up real good. I think GM doesn't want to put locktite on the bolt threads. That's why you see those strange bolts with the builtin flat washers on the bolt hex head. They use the same thing on the crank bolt.
