Default HELP!! I need someones brains

I have a 2002 4.8 going in a third gen. my question is I was in the process of swapping oil pans when I noticed that the very front of my crank has what looks to be "wear" marks from the crank rotating.. is that normal. it has stop all work as of now... what could cause this? It is almost like the crank is rubbing on the front of the engine. any comments or suggestions welcome

you arent really giving us anything to go by... i have no clue what part of the crank the marks are on. if its one of the main or rod journals then no it should be polished and spotless

its not the main or rod...its the "counterwieght" closest to the oil pump. IF you look at the engine at the crank pulley with NO oil pan on you can see part of the crank depending on if you rotate it.. it looks like it is rubbing on the front of the engine...howver besides the visual damage nothing else seems wrong...

I've seen this on numerous engines, but none had any corresponding marks anywhere else. I think it's just part of the machining process the crank gets.

Is it right by the front timing cover crank seal?

Without looking, it's probably the machining of the counterweights, but just in case you may want to check to make sure that the bolts for either the cam retainer plate or timing chain damper are not too long to where they would hit the counterweight.
