Default lq4 building bottom end

d Short story: my ls1 had a chipped sleeve. Picked up a 6.0 bare block. Going to forge the new block and bore it to a 370. So long term goal is turbo setup and short term is getting the motor back in the car to drive.

Delimma: I'd like to build the bottom end for boost with dished pistons but want to run the motor for a little bit on 11:1 with milled heads and a 23x cam. when the time comes I want to change heads, head gaskets, and a different cam to run 9.5:1 for boost.

Is this plausable? Or am I crazy? Lol any help is appreciated.

It's plausible, but with dished pistons, in order to get that compression, your going to need a small chamber. Which will run you into ptv issues. ALso, your quench will suck, limiting your timing and making it a dog down low. Also, your cam will probably need changed to take advantage of the turbo.

If this is livable to you, it will work.

If I were in your shoes, I would build a nice 10:1 engine with flat tops, then change heads to drop the compression down and swap the cam. I wouldn't mess with dished pistons.

I plan on changing the cam between setups for sure. I guess I don't know what pistons to go with. I'm new to everything still.

Go to "Wallace Racing" and go into Their engine and car calculator section and plug different #'s in to the compression calculator ,,,,,They also have boost calculators I believe and a sh_t-load of other calculators that can come in very handy in You're situation . And they're free
Summit has a few different brands of pistons You can find out all You need to know about piston specs there . Definately use forged pistons for boost
