Default Are my comp 921 springs costing me power w/ my EPS cam?(single v. duals debate)

It's late and I'm not quite sure I thought of this but its something that I have always wondered.

I have a 00' Firehawk with an EPS 226/230 .598/600 lift on 112+2 LSA cam. TEA 5.3 1.5 heads, FAST 92, LT's, blah blah.

When I gathered my parts I ended up with a set of Comp 921's. I went with duals because at the time( I didn't know any better) I was afraid of running a single spring and it breaking.

Every once in a while I see a thread or post about how single springs are better in some cases than dual springs due to harmonics.

The car put down 430hp/420ft lbs with serious valve float and a slipping clutch. Now that I have both issues fixed the car is a beast compared to what it was when it put those numbers down.

I am at the point I need bigger injectors and with the prior problems I had I am going to get it retuned. But I only want to have it done once.

Is there, would there be any benefit going to a single spring compared to a dual?

I'm going to call Geoff@EPS but I won't be getting it tuned for a while and wanted some opinons first.

Thanks for any input or experience.

J

Comp 921 are pretty damn awesome. Harmonics can be a problem (as seen by your valve float issues), but I don't think they'd be robbing you of power if you aren't seeing valve float.

Running stock rockers? Why was it floating valves?

The valve float issue was because the machine shop set the install height at 1.81 instead of the 1.72 they should have been at. With a lot of help from Shane@Thunder Racing(who was awesome to deal with)let me know I had valve float, which I didn't know I had and said to check my install height. He was right and it was off by about .090.
