Default cam bearings?

I have an LQ9 that started off as a budget build. Last night I noticed the front cam bearing is worn and decided to have the cam bearings replaced. My question is : are the cam journals grooved in the block for the oil holes in the bearings or do I need to pull the crank so the machine shop can align the oil holes? The local machine shop isnt for sure and I need to get this done asap.

Yes you need to align the oil holes with the oil holes in the bearings. If the machine shop your using doesn't know this, then im not sure what kind of machining they do. Defiantly not automotive that's for sure. By the way its pretty common on these motors to see some wear and tear on the cam bearings when you pull the cam out.

The machinist is very competant and knows to align the oil holes. That wasnt the question. I wanted to know if the oil holes fed from the crank journals via a single hole or if the whole journal was grooved and the orientation of the bearing hole didnt matter.
