Default stored car and aftermarket springs

Hi,

I would like to know if car is stored for like a year, should I worry about springs losing pressure as some of them will remain pressed under the cover? or just harmonics/wear from normal use does that?

Springs are dual, PRC's temporary with stock cam.

Thanks

People do it all the time with NO issues. Some will ocassionally rotate the engine over to get change valve opening/closings. You could just pop the valve covers off and lossen ALL the rockers up so there NO tension at all.

it's hard on the springs to let them sit like that. Any storage time over a couple months, I like to loosen the rocker arms. I would defeinitely do it for a year storage.

My problem is I'm away of home for life 9 months or so. Next time I would do loosen the rocker arms for an extra peace in mind.

Even with the valves closed, the springs are compressed. Their only uncompressed state is at free length, i.e, uninstalled.

^^

I would loosen the rockers just so the valves were closed to keep humidity out. I would also spray a fogging oil in the bores.

I've had the same set of Comp 941's in my GN powered S-10 since 2002. Went through the engine last year, checked the springs and all were within a pound or two of their original tension. My truck gets driven maybe 500 miles a year and sets for 6 months at times...

Yea springs don't wear out just sitting...they wear out from repeated use (or in our case abuse lol)

I don't worry about this because I store my car in a "CARBAG". The car is zipped into the bag with dessicant to keep it dry. If I didn't, the humidity where I live would wreck a lot of things and the aluminum parts would look like crap. Cold damp salt air is tough on the car over the winter and especially in early spring.
