Ls1 pilot bearing switch
I know the stock pilot bearing for the input shaft is a needler roller (which i dont use cuz they suck) but i was wondering, instead of using this bronze or brass bushing that seemingly wears out, do they make a roller bearing that is like the pilots used in big rigs this small? Please pm me if u understand and possibly know an answe

Usually if You have pilot bearing/bushing issues that means You have wearing out/worn out transmission ,,,,,,,,or at least the input shaft bearings/bushings ,,,,,,,or You pound the h_ll out of it every day hard .

I'm sure you could order one from Mcmaster Carr or from timken/thk/***/skf. I'm with you, I don't like the needle bearing design either. There are considerations to be made though - load rating, expected life, ABEC rating, etc etc. Just make sure you get one that will stand up to the job at hand.
What I'd do is get the old needle rolller out, measure the OD and match it. Then measure the input shaft of your trans and size the ID of the bearing to be a thou or two bigger than it. You don't want to make it too tight and fight to get the transmission back in the car.
