Default 2005 6.0l build combo questions

Whats up ls1 tech?

I am building my first lsx and am having a few questions about combinations of parts.

So far i have:

A set of c5 heads w/ 27k. Getting them deburred on the intake side. Ported and polished to 1 3/4" on exhaust side. Clean up mill and 3 angle valve job.

An ls6 manifold w/ stock rails and stock 28.3lb injectors.

All bolting on top of a 2005 6.ol cast#800-1507. W/ 80k miles.

My questions are:

1. What block do i have? Lq9 or lq4? I havent opened it up yet.

2. Whats a good cam/lifter/spring/pushrod package to run for horsepower and torque, not too lopey but a little tell tale from the idle. Best lsa and lift? I want power from 1500 to 6000 rpm or so.

3. What size throttle body is the max i can run on this stock ls6 manifold?

4. Im purchasing an ls1/t56 harness and ecu from an 02 ws6 trans am. Whats the serial number i am looking for? I know there is a specific "better" one to have and cant find the post i read about it.

Thanks in advance for any an all help. I appreciate it.

Sincerely from a die hard gm boy,
dillon

So is this going in the Nissan?
The engine difference is primarily flat top or dished pistons. short version is, 3/4 ton trucks got the LQ4 and the Escalade got the LQ9.
On the heads if LS1 then they flow LESS than what came on the engine but do offer more compression, a little research is warranted before blindly throwing "corvette" parts around.

With the modest rpm limit I really doubt looking for a bigger TB is something you should be thinking about. Besides if you actually search it seems the overwhelming consensus is a ported stock TB is best.

While on the topic of not blindly assuming "vette" parts are best the truck intake actually works just as well as the LS6 intake, just doesn't fit that many vehicles.

On the valvejob I probably wouldn't let just any old shop take a wack at the heads, a lot of later model stuff gets screwed up by shops that stopped learning in '85.

You could take the money saved by not doing a TB and put it into good headwork like one of the AI rebuilt/valvejob or full porting options. http://advancedinduction.com/LSX/AiLSxCylinderHeads.php

what are the head casting numbers currently on your engine? and the casting numbers of the heads that you are going to use ?you want 243s or 799 heads .you can use a 78mm TB on the a ls6 intake, you can get them for $60 .check out Texas Speed or thunder racing for good cam kits.consider a 228r cam .

Pretty sure an 05 6.0l means 317s regardless of LQ4 or LQ9. Same ports as 243 or 799s but with a big chamber and corresponding lower compression.
