Default Quick question

I took my car to the track yesterday and ran 8.88 and 9s all day. I run street tires and have a question. Some people have told me not to launch off the line and others say its okay too. I noticed that when I didn't launch and just took off right before green I got mad traction, But when I held it at 2000 rpms I went side ways on take off.. Whats best to do? and what rpm range should I launch at if I need to be launching?

Judging by your times I'm guessing it's a near stock car. If not some details would be nice. If so then a slight foot break of 1200-1400 will run your best time.

All depends on the street tire you are on too. I have had street tires as hard as rock and wouldn't hook on anything and I have had tires that hook like drag radials. With that said try finding the most rpm you can launch at without spinning or pushing thru the lights.

Or, get you a set of drag radials and forget about all this.

Such a broad question with too many variables.

The tires are Falkens, And they had about 30% tred on them, but thats why I used them, i Figured they were damn close to being slicks?

My car has stage 3 shift kit, Cammed, No cats straight piped, K&N intake system, Hooker headers, and I got rid of some weight, No back seat or passenger, quarter tank of gas when raced, and always runs castrol GTX oil. I was really angry when I lost traction, I was against a 2006 GTO and I lost by half a car after catching up to him after I slid for about 10 or 15 feet, So given that what is a good RPM for launching? and Should I be launching on street radials?

To tell you the honest truth mate.....If you have to ask this question after actually racing & knowing yourself what the car was doing....You should not even be driving a car.
