How would ported 5.3's or 243's with TSP giant cam perform in a 408?

It definitely wouldn't be at full potential but it could get you bye if your waiting for other heads etc. the ls6 heads would be hurting you to, not really allowing that beast to breath. I'd wait if its not a DD or anything and just finish it right. Be a lot easier than in the car or pulling the motor again.
You would prolly lose around 20hp with the ls6 over the 102 and closer to 30 over a ported 102. Heads could be more if your comparing them to trick flow 245's or something. What heads were you planning on running? Besides the ls6

It's not going to be optimum but it will still make good power and run strong. Get the bottom end right, use the heads and intake you have now and enjoy the car and upgrade later.

Well, my first intentions were to run the ls3/l92 top end, but the more I searched, the more mixed reviews I came across. Seems like the ls3 top end is real hit or miss.
Found a few cathedral headed 408s making good power even under the curve. I just don't want to get all these extra cubes and I then get pulled on by a h/c 346 ls1.
So I'm real torn between l92s and the cathedral heads as there seems to be no real definitive answer. Also seems the cathedral ports flow better than the l92 up until about .400 lift
