Default How to Comp Trunion upgrade using a vise

Well for those of you that do not have a good quality drill press (a cheap chinese one may not be up to the task...ask me how I know) or shop press, you can use a vice. I made a cheesy little video complete with my phone falling that shows how I did it. I initially tried with a drill press and apparently broke something inside the drill press So I took a cheap vice I had and finished the task.

I just did mine not long ago. Was very easy useing a vice. Just read the instructions. Make sure the bearing are faceing the correct way and go with it. Nothin to it. My kit had the washers in it so no sockets were nessasary.

I still used the socket to place the rocker on to knock out the old trunions. The washers I just used for pressing the new bearings in place.

You are exactly right. Forgot about that. No sockets needed to install them. Thanks for the correction

That would probably be cool for pressing out the old bearings I guess, but a hammer and the 22mm socket seemed to work ok. Quite honestly if I had an arbor press or thought I would use it for anything in the future I probably would have purchased one, but I have never really had a need for one. This solution, while not ideal, seemed to work out ok.

Ha! Never thought about a c clamp, lol. I guess that would have done it too. But the vise worked ok. An arbor or a good drill press would have been easier. The drill press worked great for the first 2 then gave out on the third.

Gotta have something decent for day to day, then when I want something nice I go with a Paulaner Salvator or Erdinger Dunkel. I sell beer for a living, so for me I mix it up a good bit.
