Default LQ4 Crank Flange

Hey guys. I just went to a junkyard and pickedup an lq4. The guy said it was a 2001 but when I saw the iron heads I was skeptical. When I got home I pulled the flywheel off and it had the longer crank flange. I really want to end up hooking this up to an ls1 t56 so my question is can I use that block and just replace the crankshaft with one with a shorter flange or is that not possible?

Thanks!

You could do that. Or when you take the crank out, just have a shop turn off the "extra" 0.400" and make it a normal crank.
