Believe that. Measure. I took everyone's word for it and wound up making noise. Drive me nuts tryin to figure it out. Finally purchased a $20 tool and I was way took long.

Ive been interested in this same setup and talking to Trevor at TSP and gave me some advice and one of the things was pushrods. I was told to just order 7.4" being most common and measuring tool, then if some vary in sized after install just send them back and they will exchange them with new ones.

this..all applications are different but the 7.4" is pretty common. Measure regardless.

I have stock 241 heads with the TSP 228r and i am currently using 7.4" and valvetrain is just a little bit nosier than stock. Love the cam though, good choice, this cam is a beast.

guessing is very expensive and time consuming my set up was 5.3 head milled down to 59cc and an .045 gasket , push rods were 7.300, and if ur that low better check piston to valve clearance if ur running a big cam

$20 dollar checker is the best way, not that hard to use , i used one

7.4 will be alright if heads are not milled and using stock head gaskets. measuring is best for accuracy and more critical when using milled head and thinner gaskets.

I get that you're supposed to measure, but how the heck do you do that and still complete the job in the alloted time? And most of the time, when you purchase a cam package it comes with pushords.

So basically what you have to do is set aside 2 different install times, 1 for installing the cam and measuring, then another after you wait for the right sized pushrods to come in.

That is why planning ahead is crucial and proper time/parts management as well. That is what it takes to do it right.

Agreed with everyone on this thread. Measure. If not, you are just wasting money on pushrods/lifters and possibly doing some catastrophic damage worst case. TSP recommended 7.375 for my 5.3 heads and I ended up measuring 7.325 WITH 0.075" preload.

Quick Reply: TSP heads and cam kit.
