Default Heads/cam questions

Guys I have a 2000 LS1 stock but for a 219/224 .609/.604 115 LSA cam in it. I have picked up a set of 243 heads that I am going to have done for it. What I need to know is how much to mill off the heads to end up with close to 11.0/1 comp ratio. It has a set of comp pushrods 7.400 length. My concerns are piston to valve clearence and pushrod length. How much to mill and headgasket thickness. Any thoughts? also any prefs on headgaskets? I have gone through the stickys but couldn't quite get all the info I wanted. Thanks

With that cam, you shouldn't ave much to worry about. The LSA and intake duration are what you need to pay attention to for PTV. With the 115LSA and the 219 intake duration @.50 you should be able to mill quite a bit if you want to. The 243's start with a 64cc chamber factory, and their stock CR is 10.5:1, so to be @ 11.0:1 you will need to be at 62cc or less; or use a thinner gasket like a Cometic .040 gasket, with a .006 mill, which will put you @ 63cc chambers and plenty of PTV. This will allow you to keep great flow with the heads close to factory chamber size while bumping you CR ad adding quench, which helps protect against knock. For note: every .006 milled drops the chamber size of your heads 1cc. Also, MAKE SURE TO MEASURE for the correct pushrod length.

Thanks for the info guys. I picked up this 2000 Camaro for my son while he was away with the Army. It is a pretty nice ride with only 39k orig miles. It is an all stock SS and now we just want to give it a little more go. Thanks again for your help.
