Default Ported and blueprinted LS6 oil pump

Does anyone know if the ported and blueprinted LS6 oil pump from Tick Performance is shimmed? It doesn't say anything about it being shimmed in the description, but I was just wondering if anyone had personal knowledge of this particular pump... Thanks!

Not sure but the shim is a flat washer from any ol hardware store. Different thickness will give you different relief setting

Do you happen to know the standard size of the washer used?

Thanks all! I think I've decided I'm going to port and shim a new LS6 oil pump myself. Anyone know where I can get a new LS6 oil pump for cheap?

Thanks man, and I will let you know how it turns out. Actually seems very straight forward and easy. Here is a link I just happened to find after doing endless searches this morning haha... https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...pump-help.html

There is a link within that link that has a nice pdf.

Doesnt "blue printed" mean building something to origonal OEM Specs?

I suggest not taking the short route on something as vital as a pump. Def not an area to "experiment" on. They are not that expensive...just buy one ready to go from someone like Texas Speed or SLP. Look for your bargains and money savers somewhere else...

You're being too paranoid. Porting and shimming the the pump is the easiest thing in the world.

Not true. If you have a machine shop balance and blueprint a shortblock are they "building it to original OEM specs"? No, they are just checking bearing clearance and deck height.

The whole oil pump thing is not hard. If you would ever open one up you would know.

I am overly cautious when it comes to certain components. I just feel the pump is cheap enough to buy it already done.

Ive got a brand new oil pump in the box, would you like to see how minute the 'porting and shimming' really is?

yeah, against the origonal design. They are building the engine (or part) to the exact OEM spec (Blue prints).

Do you have a link to the pump you're talking about tork?

I normally recommend our standard volume LS6 oil pump for 90% of the H/C/I, H/C or cam-only set-ups we do.

That is the pump I recommend for 90% of the cam swaps I sell and that we do here at the shop. That is a LS6 pump FYI.
