Anyway you look at it a head and cam swap isnt cheap but your cheapest route would be to send off your stock heads and get them cnc'd. I have the texas speed 228r 114lsa and it is awesome. wasnt too pricey either.

I was looking into the 228r but after some reading, i think im leaning towards the streetsweeper HT cam instead. Sounds great and a lot of people love it.
As for heads, id go ported 243s and ls6 intake or typhoon.

Always be careful buying used cams period, one thing i dont do is buy used internals,im good on that, cams are kinda cheap, imo not worth it to save 100/150 bucks buying used, also 98s have the weaker rod bolts so i would suggest not going with a spin it to the moon setup, from my experience if i could do it all over again i would just buy a good used d1sc setup and call it a day, safe tune, good fuel and it will be a pretty fun ride, and you can install that yourself without tearing into the motor,( i dont know if you were going to do the labor on the h/c setup, but labor is pricey and then figure a tune)just add up everything, get prices, research etc, i have seen some people spend alot of cash to later go boost anyway, not that h/c wont help boost but it all depends on your end goal,if i would be able to start i would do bolt ons and a blower then save for a forged motor, that would have saved a few bucks, also is your car a m6 or a4?

agreed used cams can be a big mistake.some used unported 243/799 heads will give you 15 rwhp for $400.or check out Texas Speed for ported ls heads.how much $$$$ do you have to spend ?
