Default Vig 3200 or Yank ss 3200? What would the gains be?

I've done some research and I think I'm set between the two. I was wondering if anyone had any input on how they performed different from each other. My car is a 01 Ws6 trans am with p&p throttle body, ls6 intake (stock), slp lid, slp loud mouth catback, hypertech handheld programer, and 3.73 motive gears.

Im getting headers and a stall put on it and a dyno tune at the same time because it's getting a new rear seal and oil sending unit. What do you guys think the gains will be?

If your going to be drag racing I wouldn't go any lower then 3600....3200 is mild as hell on a LS1

As for gains it all depends on traction, 3600-4000 stall I'd say atleast a 1/2 second.

FTI 3800. You'd see probably .8 tenths reduction. And would drive nice with the 3.73s.

I have to agree. I've owned both series and the SS yank is tighter and more efficient on the top end.I agrees that at least a SS3600.

Another vote for Yank, at a minimum get atleast a 3600 stall. If I could do it again I probably would go for a 4000.

With the Yank 3600 ss would it heat up more than a 3200? I know I need a trans cooler and I will be getting one but should I be worried if my transmission has 145k on it? It still shifts great and the fluid looks good in it. Also I don't want a burnout machine at the track haha.

Nah it wouldn't heat up more if it does be barely, and as long as things look good in ur transmission it shouldn't be a problem

Edge makes a really good stall too. Driving around town I can't tell mine isn't stock at all. I will probably have it re-stalled to a 4,200 though. 3,200 is just leaving too much on the table at the track. 4,200 should put us in the 10's for sure.

Vigilante converter tend to looser than advertised so a vig 3200 will be equal to a 35-3600. I had a vig 3600 and it acted alot more like a 4000 and was super loose. That being said right now I have a circle d 5c and little street driving I have done I can tell you its going to be an awesome converter its tight enough for street driving but hits very hard, I'm waiting to get my car tuned so I can take it to the track and drive more on the streets to form a better opinion but so far I like it way more than my vig 3600. Also fwiw post this in the auto section you will get more replies.

Thanks for all the replies. I think I'm going to get the 3600 Yank. And Mr Tick I'm kinda a noob lol. Do you guys think I will have traction issues on 555 nittos at the track with this setup?

I ran a vigilante 3200 for 3 years. Was a good converter. Felt like stock driving around. Then stepped up to a circle D 4000 stall.. Let me just say that the 4000 stall was amazing and drove just as civil as my 3200. A 4000 stall is not too much for a daily driver.

Honestly, I would suggest going with a 4k stall. But I atleast wouldn't go ang smaller than a 3800 stall.

ss3600 here and i dd the car when the weather is nice and it is a tight converter for its size and thats with stock 3.23s. usually vigs run looser than yanks, and from what iv read people will compare the vig 3200 to the yank ss3600 in terms of feel depending on what gears are in the rear.

I didn't want to be one of the guys who say " I should've went bigger " That's why I got a 4k.

People seem to never take advantage of the fact that Yank offers 1 free re-stall in the first year. Yes it's a hassle pulling you trans. back out but I'd rather do that then live with a stall I'm not happy with.
