Default head studs for 5.3

when buying them.. there are two styles for gen 3 and gen 4 correct? what changes the blocks or heads? i have a 99 block and an 05 or newer set of heads and not sure which ones to get.

any info would be appreciated thanks

Here's one sure way to always figure out which set you need. Stick a long skinny screw driver in the bolt holes and see if the big bolt holes are all the same depth.

Like was said, the blocks are different. The mounting locations on the heads are all the same. 97-03 had the different length, and 04-later have all the same length.

You can get anything thin and long, and check bolt hole depth just to be sure.

In particular, the outer two bolts on the upper row of HEAD bolts are a shorter than the other ten bolts. This excludes the top of of bolts above the lifters. Head bolts only, or studs if your running ARP's
