Default Is this PS length right or im i doing something wrong?

hey guys..im setting up my valvetrain and which consist of Comp adj shaft mounted rockers and Comp short travel link bar lifters, i already got the wipe pattern on the valve tip, but when i measure the pushrod length im coming up with a 7.096" pushrod. This is what im doing.

1. Lossen up the adj nut completely
2. open the ps length tool 6 turns (6x .050") = .300"
3.thighen the adj nut on the rocker until i get no more play b/t the rocker and the ps (zero lash)
4. Tighten the adj nut an extra 1/8 turn to get ~.30" preload.

should i order 7.100"?

is this right?

Looks like somebody went bat-**** crazy with the rattle can paint....

I'm not familiar with the preload requirements those particular lifters ask for. Do they ask for ~.030 like the other link bar style?

Install the rocker with the checker rod installed (no need to torque the bolt and make sure you are on the cam base and not on a lobe). Turn out the checker until you have zero lash. Remove it and count the rotations....add that measurement to the base measurement of the tool (~6.800 depending on tool). Then add how much pre-load you want to that number, order push rods. Keep in mind the checker is measuring gauge length, not tip to tip.

What is the measurement at zero? 7.100 + .030 for pre-load?

I got 6 turns to zero, so 6.800"+. 6(.50") = 7.100"...Then i can just turn the adj nut an 1/8turn to get .030" preload..is this right?

Since you have a set of calipers, forget counting turns. Get zero lash, remove the checker pushrod and measure it. Just add .030 and order that length. Most simple and best way to do it.

Those are adjustable shaft mount, not fixed mount rockers. Does the rocker manufacturer have a preset for the adjustment nut at which to measure? You need that value first so you can preset your adjuster, then measure. Preload is not an issue here since you can adjust it.

In your first photo, aren't those guide plates?

The rockers appear to be shaft mounted so guide plate shouldn't be required, however not sure what is in your photo and whether they came with the rockers. As for diameter, the largest OD that will fit would be best. Question is what will fit your heads.

what you see in the first pic are the shims to set the wipe pattern. thanks again guys for all the help.

PS im using AFR heads and i might need to drill out the ps hole on the heads, as an other member here is running the same rockers and the ps were hitting the head. So more good news

Thanks, not familiar with those rockers. Good to know.

Not sure what you are referring to with "ps" in your post, but I went with a double taper pushrod with my AFR heads.
