Look at my piston and head. Run or Not
The motor is a 2005 LQ4. Suppose to have 50,000 miles on it, but I think it has more. Took my heads off tonight to have them milled and found this. What should I do? Run it or not. The cylinder had a very small place on it but I dont think its an issue. The heads are getting milled .030, so I think they will clean up. I hope.

There was a very small spot on the number 7 cylinder. The rest looked fine. Im not crazy concerned about it but it did cross my mind that there could be a problem. What did you end up doing?

I wasn't comfortable with the scratches in my cylinder bore so i had a machine shop take a look, and my concerns were right.. so I had them rebuild it.
Idk Im not a real expert but Im guessing the piece that broke off the piston bounced around and did that damage to the combustion chamber? and if the walls look good then that piece probablly flew out of your exhaust....

I found a deal in the sale section for a set of DRP pistons that are 4.005 with -10cc dish. I called my machine shop and he said he would bore the block .005 and put in new cam bearings for $275. What do yall think. I know everbody is gonna say go bigger but I think I can get $800 pistons for around $350.

Im gonna run it. Cheap motor anyway. Worse thing that would happen is wipe out my new cam and lifters. It might run one minute or it might run a couple years. Ill let yall know what happens.

Dont be scard, run it! Just mill you head and try to smooth out the nicks on the piston and call it a day.
