Default Where did my oil pressure go?

so i went to start my Z today for the first time in about a month or so and i fired her up she was running for maybe 3 seconds when i looked at the oil pressure gauge and it was pegged on 0. I quickly shut the car off. The car has always had good oil pressure in the past, im at a lose as to why all the sudden it is reading 0? I was thinking that maybe its the gauge or sending unit it possibly, because it does something a little funky. when the key is OFF the gauge would creep up a little to maybe 5-10psi ish, and then when you turned the key to run the needle dropped back to 0? does this seem odd to anyone?

I had the exact same thing happen on mine and i had to replace the oil pump. It was running perfectly, then dropped it off at a mechanics for about a month, and then almost no oil pressure.

Maybe yours could just be the spring inside the oil pump. That way you dont have to replace the whole thing.

You can hook up a mechanical gauge, and verify that you don't have pressure or you do. If you don't have any the top end also would make a ton of noise.

Just had to change this on the wife's '09 CTS (not -V) with only 27k miles. Had to change 2 of them on the previous '04 we had. GM has really been settling for some junk "factory" parts lately...

thats the thing. there was no abnormal lifter noise when i started it, so there had to be some oil pressure?
