Default Spark Plug Gap

Hello, I;m new to the forum and posted in the Newbie tech section but thought maybe i could get some advice from some of the veterans with the LS1 engine. I just installed new NGK plugs and now im getting a backfire /hesitation at WOT from what I'm hearing the gap may be the culprit. what should I gap my plugs at? I gapped them at .60 (what the fenderwell says its suposed to be) but im being told they changed that and its supposed to be .40 or .50 now...? thanks
