Default Con rod comparison

Which type of rod is stronger, I beam or H beam? I did search but couldn't find a clear answer with a reason why. It all seems to be biased and opinionated. I was always tought that on sbc h beams were the best and so that's all we ever bough and now it seems like I beams are the more expensive, more opted for rod. Im trying to compare apple to apple's here more specifically callies compstar H beam vs I beams con rods.

IMO the I beams are stronger if you can afford a good set. I think many of us compromise and use the H beam rods for budget reasons. Also I beams are typically lighter than H beam rods.

Ok thank you. Me and my brother got into this argument on which is stronger. Also what are the opinion on rods being rated or not rated by rpm also. You would think the more rpm the more load

Its hard to get a clear answer on questions like this, when there are strong and weak version of each rod. The same manufacturer can have a I-beam rated at 500 hp, an H-beam rated to 900 and an I-beam rated to 1500hp. And so on

High HP rods (1000+ hp) are always I-Beams. They require a lot more tooling and machine time and are typically made of US steel, not Chinese. Some like GRP are actually aluminum.

They also include L-19 cap screws which are tough as hell.

Hmm, aluminum. They deflect more though? High rpm they would be good but I didn't think they were good for 1000 hp too.

This is going to sound dumb. Effectively, H and I should have the same cross section shape, but only differ as to their orientation to the pin/crank and how the load is distributed. The only major difference I can envision is the depth of the "wings" effectively. There has to be something I am missing.
