Default Question for you engine builders out there.

So I bought a bare block and finally received it. My boss was telling me that I need to have the old pistons off this block to match up new pistons. Even though this block is 4.030 bore do I still need the old pistons as reference to get new ones? He said the machine shop told him this.

And I even mentioned I would need a little bigger pistons and he said it doesn't matter.

you don't need the old pistons for doing a engine build that will have new pistons..are you reusing the rods and crank ?what rotating assembly are you considering ?know what heads and chamber size you will use to get the right pistons to reach the desired static compression .

I bought some heads. I believe they are 65cc chamber. I actually am looking in to this set.
