Just wanted to see if it can be done as the ZR1 in the ALMS C6R has it set up as a 5.5L engine. I know it's a new engine but wanted to see if the good ol gen III is able to do the same.

To make it easy. Yes, you could make your 5.3 displace 5.5. However, without out a major overhaul of you block you will not be able to achieve the same bore/stroke dimensions that the 5.5 ALMS uses. It is a purpose built racing engine.
As stated above it is 4.090x3.185ish, which is not consistent with any GM soirced OEM part.

Isn't the 5.5 alms car powered by a version of the new LT1 engine? That's the whole reason for the development if the powerplant in the C7 I thought. Or perhaps I am mistaken.

You are correct, I just wanted to know if it was possible from the 5.3 to get the 5.5L displacement. Wasn't too worried about how it could be done, but if it could be done.

Ohhh gotcha... Um well as my old man says... With the right application of knowledge, skill, and a boatload of money you can do whatever you want... But in this case you would have to start with something aluminum to get the true 5.5L motor. Something the 5.3 iron block is rather lacking in. Oh and I was wrong... The 5.5 has more in common with an LS7 than the new LT1... The LT1 has direct injection. So the cylinder heads are light years different. Well not light years, they are going to be made of aluminum but that's about all they will share. DI motors are the cat's *** by the way.

I think it would be more fun to say I run a 572 V8 in my car/truck. Watch guys in Hondas wet their pants when they realize you almost displace more volume in one cylinder then they do in their whole car... Oh you have a turbo 4 banger? How many? cuz you're gonna need more than one. Lol
