Default does this hole behind the timing cover get a plug?


i was looking at the timing cover and the gasket and it does not look like it will cover it very well and i dont have my old block to see if it had the same hole does it get some kind of plug ??? and if so does anyone know a part number also does anyone know the part number to the little plastic barbell that goes on the back of the block i lost mine.

Yep, looks like a tiny freeze plug that taps in there with a small socket and smeared with a bit of rtv... Thats you're oil galley... All the way back is a tiny plunger plug on that one... Look back behind there and see if it's open or has a off-white plug in it currently...

so the tiny plunger in the top of the picture is in the same passage just the back of the motor and i should be able to see it back there without taking off the cover

No you have to take the rear cover off to see it.

Front cover welch plug P/N 9427693
Rear cover barbell plug (includes -156 oring) P/N 12573460
