Default HELP me choose heads for my cam

Hey guys new to the v8 scene so please excuse my dumbness... I like to ask a lot of detailed questions about things I don't know about so here it is

Bought my buddies 02ws6 off him after he blew the rear at the strip.. He put a Large Cam in Texas speed ms3 605/610 lift- duration @50 238/242 -adv dur 287/291 on a 110LSA

I saw that Texas speed doesn't even offer the ms3 cam in the 110 Lsa anymore so guessing its pretty violent .. He rebuilt the stock 241 heads put in PRC double titanium .650 valve springs, ls2 lifter trays, ls7 lifters, titanium retainers seats and seals, texas speed chromoly pushrods

I just bought a fast 92 inake/tb set up have slp lid and 85mm maf has hooker headers into 3" borla exhaust and has electric open cutouts

She basically has best of everything needed to breath and exhale but heads! What heads should I bolt on that this big cam will shine with!?? The past owner said he was going to put on stage 2.5 5.3l heads to raise the compression ?? Idk all the differences was leaning towards the stage 2.5 or 3 ls6 243 heads from texas speed just because seems like they cant go wrong but I really have no clue ... Need some educated help and not trying to spend over 2k ... Also can I just reuse the aftermarket lifters/pushrods/ and stock rockers or should I buy all new
Thanks guys !!

That's my problem though, I don't know what I'm looking at for heads that will match up with my cam.. Should I just call Texas speed and talk to a tech? Anyone know and good techs there I could ask for or any other performance shop techs?

Stage 2.5 5.3l heads typically make power at low end, ls6 243 heads make power towards the top end. Depends on where you want to make power? Ls motors typically make its peak power at the top end so it's your call. Both heads are good. Look into advanced inductions, they do really good head work. Get a set of used 243s and send them to advanced inductions you can save money and make just as much power, get them milled and bump up your compression that way as well. You can reuse the pushrods being it already had a cam swap there already hardened pushrods.(if you choose to mill the heads your gonna have to get different length rods. Buy new ls7 lifter, don't reuse the old ones. Stock rockers are fine for heads/cam swap. If they springs have more than 15k miles I would change them.. Call tsp they will help you out. Personally I would get advanced inductions to Cnc port a set of 243s.

Darkstar,

Ask for Gary at Texas Speed. I was on the phone with him asking some of the same questions you are in trying to decide on 2.5 5.3L heads or the Ls6 heads.

He was great to talk with and a wealth of information.

Good luck,

Q

You should always measure what you need.

Call TSP and ask for Aaron. Between he and Matt, those are the only two I talk to.
