readjusting valve lash on lifters
ok my question is, my t/a has 136000 miles on it and runs good but have upper valvetrain noise. a mechanic told me to back rockers off run it for acouple minutes then shut it down and retorque rockers down. he claims this will pump lifters up past there normal preload and get rid of noise. im not sure cause ive never heard of this. he said its an old school trick, and he works for GM. he claims on ls1 engines that they get noises and just need the valves to be relashed. help me out please

I guess that could work...While your at it I would check the push rods with straight edge, could be as simple as slightly bent PR. You need to roll the motor over by hand when you re-torque to 22lbs, you want to make sure you are on the heel/base circle of the cam for that rocker etc..
