Default Sleeving LQ9 (6.0)

Well the cylinder bores of the LQ9 i bought turned out to be badly damaged.

Should i sleeve or just look for another one. I got the block for only $80. Sleeving around here is going to cost $65. So a total of $145.

If i find another block in good condition, it is going to cost minimum $350.

Not sure what to do. Cz im not sure how reliable a sleeved (iron) block is. Is a sleeved cylinder block as good as an un-sleeved block?

What do you guys suggest???

Im planning on boosting the engine later too in case that makes a difference.

I was wondering the same thing. I wasn't 100% sure, but I thought doing something like that was pretty pricey.

Resleeve it. I would ask what kind of liners are you going to get for it?

It is certainly not a job I would give to someone from Hyderabad. Find a clean block.

I have #7 sleeved on my 4.030 iron block. Sleeve is .055" thick ductile iron. Was done by LME. 800+hp at the wheels and no issues. If getting a new block gives you peace of mind, I would go that route.

Yeah, like DMM said...Filipino. Yes there are also Hydrebadians (or Indians )...Lebanese, Egyptians and Turks. The Filipinos are considered the best.

As for sleeving, i can't vouch for any machine shop but going around some shops i see that it is a regular thing they do. Plus i've seen their machines...i'm no expert but they looked pretty fancy (up to date)...and there are alot per shop.

I was asking generally though...would it be a good idea to sleeve an iron block

Sorry to bring up a dead thread, but I was wondering if you could use the MID Wet Sleeves on the LQ9? I have a 4.125 Callie Magnum crank and was told the LQ9 is too shallow for the stroke so to kill 2 birds with 1 stone, get a larger bore (4.200+), plus the deeper sleeve for the stroke.
