Default Is this cam too much for my car?

I'm looking at this cam I found, it's used but I'm hoping its compatible with my California cars needs and my wants. I want at least 400-450 to the wheels but I don't want everyone to know when I pull up. Lol The specs are as follows:

Adv dur: 315 318
Dur .50. 248 252
Valve lift .612 .612

Lobe sep. 113.0

My car is a 00 Trans Am WS6 Six speed, LS7 clutch and flywheel. 3.73 in the stock rear end. Tires are 295/35/18 Nitto NT05. The engine setup is 243 Z06 heads, not ported or milled , Z06 valves with aftermarket springs that are good for this amount of lift (unsure of brand, they came on the heads when i bought them.) Pacesetter ceramic LTs-catless, SLP LM2 Catback, LS6 intake, 80mm bbk throttle body, and of course the lid, bellows, k&n, egr delete, yada yada...

Any body have an expert opinion?

Some important info you may want to add and clarify so people can answer. What's the vehicle? Engine? Trans? Rear? Tire? What's the vehicle's main purpose?

Im not overly concerned about CA emissions. You dont suppose I can muffle it down? maybe add and e-cutout for when i want it loud?

How are you passing smog check now without Cats?

Talk to a vendor about a good emissions cam.

That cam is way too big for a 5.7. It's even bigger than the MS4, which is retarded. I would say you would make big peak numbers, but it's bigger than almost anything I've seen for your motor, not even sure it would peak where your motor can spin. You may wind up falling real short on TQ and HP.

What are you looking to do with the car? Drag race, autocross, daily driver, parade car?

of course you meant to put allegedly at the end, right...

that cam shaft does not match your combo. Doesn't really match any 3.900 bore combo.

That cam is simply not a good choice for your setup any way you look at it. Also, without flycutting it wouldn't even fit in the motor without playing patty-cake with the pistons.

I agree with the others who say the cam is too long in duration for your package.

You would be better off with a cam that has something like the following for it's specifications:

Intake duration at 0.050" : 232 degrees

Intake lift at the valve : .640"

Exhaust duration at 0.050": 250 degrees

Exhaust lift at the valve : .640"

Lobe Separation Angle : 118 degrees

Good luck with your decision.

That would be a big cam for a 408, nevermind for a 346.

If you wanted to run a 248/252, you'd need it on like a 106 for it to even have a usable powerband. Then the overlap would be so high you won't be able to drive it. And the piston to valve clearance would be so bad, you'd need to flycut.

Even as it is, you would need to flycut.

I ran a 238/242 in my 5.7 and it was big for stock cubes, then dropped the same cam in my 408 and it was too small (felt almost stock) then jumped up to a 255/271 in my 408 and it was perfect....the bigger cams are made and ment for bigger cube motors unless you are planning on dropping LOTS of money into your valvetrain and getting a rev kit to keep things stable at 10,000+ rpms and running a very steep rear gear like 4.56:1 or something
