Default Main Cap Bearing Cutouts

On cap #5 and cap #1, there are two cutouts for the bearing to go into. One on either side. Which one it supposed to be utilized? The one on the opposite side of the bottom bearing?

you can install them any way you want provided that you alternate the tangs on the bearing halves so that they are not on the same side of the bore.

So the opposite side would be the correct way to go then?

put the bearing half with the oiling holes in the block side first. then just make sure that the bearing in the cap has the tang on the opposite side of the tang on the block bearing.

That's correct - like Rezin said, lay in the block side first and take note of where the tang is. Then install the cap-side bearing shell such that its tang is on the opposite side as the lower half when you seat the cap.

Yes, ARP lube is all over those threads. Worked it in really well before threading the nuts.

I know that regular SBC's are tang to tang, so would this mean that both tangs need to be on the same side, with just alternate positions as to not touch? I have the tangs on the cap bearings on the opposite side of the crank from the block bearings. Since cap #1 and #5 have tang inserts on both sides of the cap, will this work also, as long as the tangs are not touching?

No one wants this one? My engine is currently built, so this information is rather important before I get too far in to take the pan back off and check the caps.
