Torquer v2 guys...come in, need advice
I have a 2001 M6 Firehawk T/A, mods: lid, LT's w/catted Y, borla...5.0shifter...suspension mods. Car made 344rwhp/361 torque prior to a cam. I recently had a good local shop put in a Texas Speed TV2 cam. I only put down 379rwhp/358 ft/lbs torque with the TVR. That seems pretty low to me; however there were several issues I want to discuss/seek opinion on. First, on initial pulls after the cam as it was being tuned it blew a header gasket. The shop stopped and replaced the aftermarket gaskets I had placed with GM OEM gaskets. Problem fixed....so I thought. The next day on a second round of pulls it fouled a plug and blew off a plug wire. Shop replaced my delco iridium plugs with NGK TR55's and delco wires. Fast forward to the next day....began pulls again and car began to experience intermittent (loud) lifter tick that would come and go. They stopped again. Come to find out the pushrods we received from TSP were too long. They were measuring closer to 7.450's. My shop pulled them and said I need 7.35X's (can't recall exactly). Waiting for the new pushrods to go in this week then finally get my car completed with it's tune on the in ground Dynojet. I also had 3.73's installed at the same time and I run some meaty 295 BFG's KDW tires on aftermarket 18x10.5 DD corvette rims. My tuner says the gears and tire/rim weight is probably robbing me of 10rwhp. Does this sound about right? Do you think my initial #'s are right on for my mods because so far I'm disappointed. I know what matters is how the car pulls on the street/strip, not just dyno. The car's not yet been turned over to me due to the issues above and I've not gotten to drive it. My tuner tells me that on the street the car is much quicker and pulls like a beast from 3-6400K. Future planned mods are Fast intake, pulled, larger TB....eventually heads. Someone please let me know. Sorry so long....I'm a military guy and wanted to give all the details. LOL.

Okay there could be many possible factors here, but a 35 hp gain sounds about right to me. I run that cam as well, and it will be a huge improvement over the stocker. Also your tuner is right...the gears and tire/rim combo will cost you a few hp on the dyno too

I think you would gain a good amount if you remove the cats and add a cut out and a set of heads when you can. Your numbers look on par for the mods it has. Not all cam only cars are over 400rwhp.

The stock heads and low compression are probably choking performance. With stock 243 heads, you would be well over 400 hp. Some dynos are heartbreakers. If this was a Mustang dyno and they reported SAE values, you are probably about right where you should be.

Hey thanks for the input guys! Sounds like I'm where I should be with the mods I have. I definitely plan on getting an intake upgrade from the LS6 and head's in the future. I'm just ready to get my car back and drive it for myself. At least with the TV2 it sounds like I've got plenty of room to grow with heads. My car can be a testy ole girl sometimes.

Those numbers are on par. A ported throttle body, underdrive pulley, and removed cats would put you in the 390-395 range and with your gearsand tires thats right in line with most good running torquer only cars. The new pushrods will help too.
