Help me choose a head/cam combo
Here in the next few weeks I will be pulling the trigger on a head/cam setup for my M6 T/A. Its my daily driver but doesn't see much stop and go traffic so driveability isn't a huge concern for me. My main goals are to rape on the new mustang 5.slows and make above 440rwhp and 400rwtq. My car will never see the track and the majority of the races it sees are from a roll either 35mph or 45mph.
The two combos I have been looking at are the Vengance racing combo with the TFS as cast 220cc heads and either the vrx4/5 cam. Or the TSP Stage 2.5 5.3 heads and ms3 cam. Thoughts pros or cons?
My current set up
Fast 78...will be opened and ported at time of head install
TSP 1/78 LT's and ORY
SLP LM2
Volant cold air
Stock ported TB
stock 3.42's

Yeah im looking at the complete kit when all is said and done the vengeance kit will end up costing about $1,000 more dollars than the prc/ms3 setup and if both setup ups preform similarly on the street im leaning towards the tsp setup. I am also under the impression that the prc heads come with stainless steel mahle valves and the tfs 220's dont.

If I was staying n/a id go with the TFS heads and vrx5 as well. At least down the road if you decide to throw boost at it you'll have more of an advantage with the aftermarket head.

Look at the PRC As cast aftermarket casting heads. They have been proven to make big power & flow a good bit more air than your other two options. We've seen guys report back making 500rwhp with them as cast!!

Shiftslow, I saw your location.. My home town is Corpus Christi: I am down there two or three times a year for vacation
Regarding heads, I am going with the As Cast 225 CC heads from Tick with milled 60CC chambers along with a Tick SNS Stage 2 cam: should make great power and torque. Give Martin a call at Tick and he will get you hooked up!
Good luck on your build.

Just so the OP knows that is not normal by any means. I would credit that number to a really generous dyno. That combo is more of a 450rwhp combo. No taking anything away from your setup just putting it out there.

Thats what im leaning towards I have $2100 to put towards my car as of right now I have big bills coming up for the next three weeks so now is the time. That pretty much narrows things down to the prc 5.3 heads unless i wait another month and get some trickflows or the prc's that where mentioned above. From what im reading a lot of people are pleased with the ms3 5.3 combo for the price.
