Default nitrous on stock ls1

i have a 2000 z28 camaro and my friend wants me to run a 75 wet shot without a tune, how stupid does this sound? yes it is a small shot but could that 1 degree of timing cause trouble

Very stupid. Dry, maybe but wet, definitely no.

Yea not a very good idea... Sounds about as good as a guy I know who wants to run his 150 shot on a "button" with a manual trans lol

Actually, a 75 shot on a car with a stock tune is probably not going to hurt anything. Stock tunes tend to be fairly conservative with timing and fueling. Although, that said, I don't recommend spraying nitrous without at least checking the air fuel ratio.

Not stupid at all, I dont care what these guys are saying. And not that you should give a good goddamn what I think, but since your asking....

A 100 shot on a completely stock LS1 will be fine 99 times out of 100 if the vehicle is in good condition with maintenance regularly done. I believe this because I have personally done it. 125 Shot for a whole season as an 20 year old.... tell me I didnt abuse that ****, never had a problem. Just be smart and stay around 75-100 for longevity.

Something to consider though would be changing to a colder plug and having safety features on your nitrous setup like : fuel pressure cutoff, AFR gauge, window switch, WOT activation and a bottle heater for consistency.

Why do you say that? I've ran 125 wet shots without a tune. Stock tunes have the timing pulled back pretty good. Dry or wet isn't going to make any difference as far as timing is concerned

What is wrong with that? Did that to countless 6 speed cars years ago. You just better know how to shift on the button!

Good call on the plugs, FoHawk. Run at least one colder range non-projected spark plugs (i.e. NGK BR6EF). I cannot image running nitrous without a wideband and window switch/progressive controller.

I can. I tuned a local car off the plugs and 2 stages on a button hitting the 1st stage out the hole and the 2nd stage at the 60ft mark.

Honestly you should be fine, but I would run a different plug for the added insurance

I ran a 125 shot untuned LS1 back in '00 but with what's available today (info/tuning) it would be dumb not tune it etc.
