aftermarket heads
im looking to make 450+ hp, which heads would i be looking for, for my goals i was told get a set of 243 cnc ported heads? would either one of these be what im looking for? PRC 220cc 5.3L Stage 2.5 CNC Ported Heads, PRC Stage 1.0 LS6 CNC Ported Heads. also if one of those is what im looking for is there anything else i would need beside gaskets?

to make the power you want out of the LS1, your budget idea is going to be tough, reducing valve train weight will help, link bar style lifters, roller tip rockers, light weight valves, heads is where you will make or break the number, like everybody else said, AFR, PRC, TFS
I just picked up some PRC227s that will put me north of 450

No need for link bar lifters or roller rockers... Not trying to start an Internet war, but its been covered time and time again. Taking those two themselves out of the equation is a grand. Put that towards heads or a FAST. Plenty of guys here, myself included that make great power with no signs of valve train instability with trunion upgraded rockers and LS7 lifters.

AFR 205s
MS3 cam
Ported 102
Full bolt ons
Might not be the most streetable car but it will have high peak power and you will probably need a donkey cam to get there. Or you could ask Martin at Tick for help.

ok just to clear it up 3000 isn't my limit, i do not have a budget i need to stop at, just for a set of heads im not trying to spend over 3000 i want to do this right but without spending $3000 on just a set of heads. i was going to go with a v3 or polluter cam but i was told to get a cam from brian tooley that he has seen 450 hp from ls6 heads, intake, and LT's. im not saying that will or will not get me to 450hp like said but i figured with a set of heads, injectors, under drive pulley, intake manifold, throttle body and a good tune i should be sitting pretty. so my ? is will either one of the heads i posted work with what im looking to put into the car with obtaining my goals? if so which one, or is the 205cc something i should be looking at? ive been told the cam from brian tooley is aggressive, the car will be a street/strip car, but i don't want a car that's impossible to drive down the street like. if that makes sense, im looking for a streetable 450+ hp while not completely breaking the bank. the motor that is in the car has 123,000 miles so as far as internals the cam is as far as i want to go. im looking to build another motor and be able to swap everything eventually, id love to build a 427 for it but need to do more research first.

If you go with aftermarket heads, you should buy the ones that have OEM quality powdered metal guides so you can run stock rockers without guide wear. Any head using bronze guides will suffer severe guide wear when using stock rockers.

I called Martin at Tick he set me up with a head and cam package delivered to my door for $2080.88 was a damn good deal imo Prc 2.5 5.3's and his sns stage 2 cam along with ls7 lifters and all the gaskets and bolts I need. Said the lowest number he has dynoed with this set up was 430whp with an ls6 intake mani. With the correct supporting mods he stated this set up could easily make over 450rwhp.

Yours definitely has more in it that's for sure.
