Default front sump pan on a 8sec car ok?

let say you have a car that will run 8.50 and pull a 1.3 or better 60'.

i have heard a front sump pan is no good for a car this quick. not soo much the launch but the oil sits at the back of the motor during the run and never gets back to the pan causing it to suck air at the end of the track.

is this true? would a accu sump take care of this problem or is a rear sump pan a must at this et?

I would think that all the oil would move to the rear of the pan during a hard launch, potentially starving the pickup...I have seen guys make custom baffles and/or modify the pan itself...if you do some searching there is a guy in here who ran in to some trouble like your mentioning I just forget the post title...

i am pretty sure a front sump is not going to work so i guess my question is will it work with an aucu sump. i dont know if it will push in enough oil to supply a high hp engine.

Aren't they designed to provide pressurized oil when pressure goes low? Maybe call summit and see which one would work for you, I believe there are different sizes available

yes they are. they are designed just for the problem i think i may have. i just dont know if they will really cover the shortage of oil that i may see. will it flow enough volume for long enough.

i guess i am looking for someone with a front sump pan running mid 8's or faster and would like to know how they are doing it.

baffled pan is the answer. With a nonbaffled pan, whether front or rear will not make a difference. Otherwise Ford owners would not be seen at the track .
