Talking Decisions, Decisions...

Long story short (some might already be familiar) I dumped a pile of cash into an engine and parts based on an internet builder's recommendations. Big mistake.

So in the process of ripping this all down and starting over I have found myself with a few different options with the cash in pocket, parts on hand/to be ordered/and cars in the garage.

I own a 2000 C5 A4 and a 04 GTO M6.

The project concerns the C5 - but it might make sense to backup here a sec and get the most bang for the buck.

What I have now
LS6 intake
42# injectors
Shorty BBK headers
LS1 standard stoke bored .005 over
11:1 compression ratio (after discussion with Martin Smallwood)
Forged flat top pistons and forged rods
High volume oil pump
Double roller timing set
Trickflow Fast as Cast 220 Heads, 65cc milled down to 61cc
Comp roller rockers (1.72) (heard these are no good)
Trickflow 7.400 .080 Push rods
226 / 229 .600 lift @ .050 112LSA
3000 Stall T/C

So my first goal was:
Cam speced and made by Martin Smallwood
Fast 92mm Intake
Longtube headers
Lunati link bar lifters

This would get the vette where it needs to be, but I really need a 3800 stall converter to get the best cam. T/C's are not cheap, and this one can't be re-stalled. It only has 100 miles on it

Now... I have this 04 GTO sitting here which was my next project anyway.

Kinda debating putting this engine together as it is for now in the vette. Get a cam to match the 3000 stall from martin, or even keep the 226/229.

This would then leave me with a block to build as a 383 stroker for the vette (personally). (and get to drive the vette in the meantime). Get the 3800 stall, cam from Martin, and other misc parts. Then take the "stock stroke" LS1 motor out of the vette, and put in my GTO. Then pop the 383 into the vette. The trickflow heads would go on the 383 stroker and I would get some other heads or have some ported for the GTO.

In the end I would like to have both rebuilt, with GTO as my daily driver and my vette as a street/strip hybrid.

Just trying to figure what I wanna do. I tend to over think things... But with buying all these replacement parts I could almost build that stroker. (Especially if I kept running the LS6 intake instead of the FAST. And maybe swap that later)

What would you do if this was your situation?

That 226/229 would work on the street with the 3000.

Pretend it is you, Mr Jake... Which route would you go if you were here? Go ahead and jump straight to the C5 with the standard stroke, 3800 stall, fast intake, and Martin cam? Or get this running as is - run in vette for the time being, and build the 383 in the next month with Martins cam, 3800 stall, TF heads, and fast intake to swap over to the vette and the Standard stroke LS1 11.11 compression ported heads 226/299 in the GTO?

I would build it up. But I'm crazy.

The 383 w/TFS heads & Martin cam would be fun in the Vette. You can use the 3000 stall on the GTO w/the 226/229 cam and get a new stall for the C5.

6 speed in the GTO - but otherwise yea... That's what I am thinking I am going to do... Figured I'd post here first to make sure I wasn't crazy and making things more complicated than they needed to be. But seemed like the easiest way to accomplish 2 motors since I am basically paying twice for this now anyway. I think this engine would do well in the GTO, and I think the Vette with would be insane with that 383 stroker, trick flow heads, and Martin Cam....
