Default 156K Heads, Cam(612.242/112LSA), Lifter swap Q’s in 01’ C5

I’ve almost broken down and sold the car after owning it three years. It’s got a fresh clutch (Monster II), 18lb flywheel, Tick Master, slave cylinder, and XS Power LT’s. After making some great passes at the track on a tire, I’ve decided to keep it. But I want mo power, surprise surprise. A friend of mine is hooking me up with a cam. So I’ve got a few questions.

1.) It’s a custom grind 612/612-238-242@.50 112 LSA. Will this kill the high miler Lifters??

2.) The cam has 15,000 miles on it… will the springs and pushrods be fine to re-use?

3.) I’m considering replacing lifters and therefore heads. What’s the biggest bang for the buck? Worked 243’s?? 5.3 heads?? What will work with this cam??

4.) Are LS7 lifters the best for the money? Or will stock LS1 replacements function under the greater load?

THANKS!!!

What do you plan on shifting it at that's a big cam? Stock gears? Careful of PTV clearance on 5.3 heads with oversized valves and that large of a cam, I'd also use new valve springs.

Thanks. This is the feedback I am looking for. I know that cam will make power up towards 7K. I am aiming to shift at 7K. I don't want to over spin the old lady... As of now I am running stock gears.

I've heard that it's wise to run new springs.

So now I'm concerned about valve clearance with different heads. How do I know what will work?

Love the clutch btw.

I definitely replace the springs with brand new ones, also instead of LS7 lifters check out BTR lifters also, top notch quality.
